AUCKLAND SUMMER MEETING; TSAINING NOTES. The heavy rain which fell during Tuesday had the effect of rendering the tracks at the Racecourse very heavy, and the work for the most part yesterday morning was not of a very interesting character. Cutts was the first to commence proceedings by sending Nelson twice round on the tan at half pace. The son of King Cole moved in splendid style, and appeared very anxious to improve the pace. Bangle (Alec Sutherland up) was sent twice round on the grass, at an easy pace ; bat she went very unkindly, and appears to be getting terribly hot-headed. Memorandum put in two miles on the grass at a good pace* Antelope was treated to a fast once round on the tan, moving well, whilo Cannon and Victoria were confined to long slow work, as was also Lioness. Shotover, after going onoe round, was joined by Clogs, and after completing a round at half pace, the pair hit out for a strong gallop, both finishing well. Wapiti and Oatesby were associated together, finishing the last six furlongs at nearly top, when the latter was pulled off and Wapiti put in an extra round by himself. Sextant was treated to twice round at half pace, while Isaac accomplished a round further. The latter is a nice out of a horse, but his action is not quite suited to the Auckland Steeplechase course. Lady Norah put in a fast once round, moving very freely. Peter Osbeck put in once round at half pace, whan he improved the pace to nearly top. Cinderella and Gladstone were aent twice round, both moving very freely. Paddy was sent once round slow, finishing up fast, Balista, Tamora, and Hilda were each treated to useful work, as were also the steeplechasers Orangeman, Guy Fawkes, and Torpedo. Tetford was again an absentee, and it is rumoured tbat he is amiss. THE BETTING. There was nothing doing in the betting market yesterday. There was an offer to take 50 to 25 about Nelson, for the Cup, but there was no response, and 7 to 4 was afterwards quoted about him. B's to 1 were freely accepted about Nelson and Silvio for the Cup and Steeplechase. Phaeton.
