BAND OF HOPE COMPETITION.
Thk third of the series of competitions In connection with the Auckland Band of Hope Union, which was held last night at the Foresters' flail, Newton, was well attended, Mr. Plummer being in the chair. The following programme was rendered :— Section I.—lnstrumental (piano). Class D, under 21 years, female, six entries : Elizabeth Edmonds, 17, Pitt-street Wesleyan Band of Hope, " Chanson Russia Flora Gilmer, 16. Ponsonby Wesleyan Bandof Hope, "Caprice Hungrois Helena Levy, 16, Sir Henry Havelock Band of Hope, " Marcheanx Flambeau Mabel Jowitt, 16, St. David's Band of Hope, " Jennie Jonea Lilly Cato, 16, St. Thomas's Band of Hope no title ; Alice R. Stewart, 17, Tabernacle Band of Hope, " Faust." SKcrios 4.—Reciting. Class A, under 12 years, males, two entries : Arthur A. Potter, 10, Mount Eden Band of Hope, " The Bridal Winecup Edwin Albert Hughes, 11, Church of Christ Band of Hope, " Farewell to the Bottle." Section 2.—Vocal. Class D, over 21 years, male and female, four entries : Grace Heron, Church of Christ Band of Hope, "Little Bow of Blue Ann J. Caley, Pitt-street Wesley an, "The Winged Chorister;" Robert R. Nesbitt, Mount Eden Band of Hope, "Drink Would Blight Those Roses" (words by a member of Mount Eden Band of Hope). Section 3. — Readings selected by the committee. Class A, under 12 years, male and female, five entries : Eaphemia Heron, 10, Church of Christ Band of Hope ; Kate M. Reid, 11. Mount Eden Band of Hope; Edith M. Winatone, 10, Pitt-street Wesleyan Band of Hope ; Eva Harris, Ponsonby Wesleyan Band of Hope ; Arthur A. Potter, 10, Mount Eden Band of Hope. Section 7 I.—lnstrumental (violin). Class B. under 16 years, male and female : Robert Wade, 14, Mount Eden Band of Hope; Maud Hogg, 12, Tabernacle Band of Hope, " Home, Sweet Home." Section I.—lnstrumental (flute).
