THE WAITOA GOLD MINING COMPANY.
We understand that a private telegram was received yesterday in town from Christchurch stating that the shares of the company formed to work the deposit of Mr. J.6.Smith's land at Waitoa were saleable at a premium of £2, although no money has yet been paid on them. This shows that the promoters of the scheme are confident of its success ; and as this confidence is the fruit of many tests of all kinds —analysis by different men in different ways, working of considerable quantities in pans, <&o.—those well informed share the confidence of the gentlemen more immediately interested.
