The Wanganui Chronicle of Friday has the following "It appears to be pretty well known now that Mr. Robert Bruco's visit to Wanganui was to try aud induce Mr. Bryce to permit him to resign the Ringitikei seat in the former's favour—Mr. Bryce being very popular in that district. We have beeu unable to obtain any information on the subject from Mr. Bryce himself, who, evidently, scorns to make political capital out of the patriotic kindness of a frieud; but it is, nevertheless, well understood that Mr. Bryce will not accept of any such offer. Indeed, although tor his friends' sake he would have preferred to win th«» election, personally he is glad of a relief from the strain of Parliamentary duties and politioal life."
