TOWN REFUSE.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Thin matter is so important that any suggestion by an outsider may perhaps be acceptable. Are the city fathers awiire that the town of Dover (England) has recently completed drainage works that cs.rry all sewage so far out to sea that there in no return of it, or ill result from it? if they are not, let them make the necessary enquiries. With regard to making nee of the solid exoreta for agricultural purposes, let me eay, a> a farmer, that there aro few indeed of us who will have anything to do with it unless it is made easily portable and almost inodorous ; such systems are being worked id the old oountry, and if corporations or individuals can there manufacture suoh manure without loss, how much more easily should it be done here, where, owing to heavy freight*, etc., the selling price of some agricultural manures is perhaps 60 per cent, over English prices. If this advantage is not enough to induce anyone to set to work, then let the Counoil guarantee a bonus (for a period of say 5 years) equal to the amount it is now coating them to do the same work so imporfeotly, and I think the whole city would say that such money was well and truly spent.—l am, &0.. Waikato Fabmeb.
