GROWN LANDS BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Crown Lands Board was held yesterday afternoon, when there were present: Mr, D. A. Tole (Com* misnoner of Crown Lands), Dr. Campbell, and Messrs. Baber and Pearoe.

Waiwpi and Kohekohb. — Mr. Baber moved that the undermentioned lots of land be offered for sale at an early date :—Waipipi, lots 43, 50, 53, 54, 60. 64, and 67 ; Kohekohe. lots 70, 71, and 72. It was de cided to include the lots in Waipipi in the next land sale. In referenoe to those at Kohekohe, it was decided to request the assistant Surveyor Oeneral to hare the land re»«urveyed to enable it to be sold. Tauh*nga.—The Secretary for the Native Department forwarded an application from the committee of the Ngaitealii tribe, Tail raoga, for permission to take two large trees from Crown land at Oropi. A similar application was reoeived from Whakntane. Referred to the distriot surveyor for information.

Manoonci.—The Under-Seoretary for the Defence Department wrote stating that there waa no objection to the application of the Kev. G. Aitken to leave Lot 71 (13 acres), portion of Mangonui East, eubjocs to payment of small rental and r.gnr, of Depart' ment to resume possession whenever reserve might be required. Granted. Waiotahi. — The Under-Seorekary for Crown Lauds intimated that lot 433 of the parish of Waiotahi was no longer required for native p irpoees. Mr. J". But hi Gordon applied to h»ve the above lot offered for sale, lie wanted to buy 50 aores of the block, and was willing to pay for survey. Decided to offer 50 Acres for sale, the rest of the land to be dealt with as the Assistant Surveyor-General may think fit. Whakatane. —The Uudor-Secretary of Crown Lands forwarded an application from Patrick Brown, an old soldier residing at VVhakataiie, to lease or to be allowed to ocaupy lot 27, parish of Waimana. Reterred to Native Department. Tit Ppkb. — The Assistant SurveyorGeneral forwarded, as requested, land reports upon the unsold portions of Stewart's special settlement. The small areas in Blocks V. and IX., Maketu, were of ?>od quality, and might be offered as they stood, viz: Sections 9*. 22, Block V.; section 9, Block IX and 30 of Block VI. The bush lands were not generally fit; for settlement, being very broken, but a few good sections mignt be out out of present sections 11 and 12, of Block IX., of an area of about 10 to 20 acres to be sold for cash, so as to enable the settlers to obtain a little bush land. Sections 23 aod 24 of Block V. were broken foreet lands, and might be sold as they stood. There was very little volcanic mud left on any of these sections. Decided that the Aesiscant Surveyor-General be requested to give effect to his suggestions about the bueh land, aod that the reac be included in the land sales of October 6th.

Uawa.—The Assistant Surveyor-General forwarded report on sections in suburbs of Uawa, which he recommended to be offered for leaie under Section 161 of the Land Act of 1885. Decided that they be offered. Pakiri.—The applications of G. Graf and A. Crawford for lot 91 and section 91, near the Whangaripo river, were granted, subject to paying the cost of nurvey. Lands for Sals.— Ihe Assistant SurveyorGeneral forwarded reports on ceotion 4, part of Waipipi, lots, parish of Waipu and parish of Matakohe, to be offered for aale. Deoided that they be offered for sale. Boa a o op Education.—The secretary of the Board of Education wrote for lot 197, parish of Mareretu, 4£ aoree, to be reserved as a> school site ; also tor 5 acres of section 3, block XV., Takahue surrey district, to be reserved for the same purpose. Approved. Mangoncti.—R. M. Houston, ohairman of the Mangonui County Council, applied for permiaeion to take a road over the Crown land in the parish of Mangonni eaat>. Bequest granted. Papasoa.—Mr. W. W. Ariell, on behalf of the settlers in the Paparoa Mereretu homeatead block, applied for a road, ft chain wide, to be reserved through lot 141, parish of Paparoa. The block to be sold on condition that the buyer allow the road to be made.

Capitalising Inbtalmrnt.—P. and W. Maxwell, of Waio<3ka, wrote asking to be allowed to capitalise their instalments and pay interest theron. Granted. Pcriri Posts.—W. Brabant wrote for permission to remove 300 puriri posts fronv the Waitahi No. 1 Block, Tβ Puke. Applioation refused.

Projecting I ICKNSEB.—D. J. Fraser applied for a prospecting license for gold on ■eotiou 8, block V i 11., Maungakawa, Te Aroha, 158 acres. Granted. K. Marbrook and party applied for a gold prospecting license on Taetnaro block, at M&ngonui. Granted. Frank Rhodes and party applied for a proa* peeling license in the pariih of Maaogataniwha E*st. They intimated that they, village settlers, had discovered payable gold on their selections at Fern Flat. Aβ soon as* the planting season was over, they intended to thoroughly prospect the place. They had sent up some specimens to town through the Village Steward, Mr. Ktvanagh, but they had uot heard anything more about them. Since then they had found " something far better," and they now claimed the Government reward for finding a payable goiddeld. License granted. James M. Turnbull and party applied for a license to prospect for •' minerals generally" on lot 254, parish of Takapuna. Granted. A. S. Ford applied for license to prospect tor gold and other minerals over Crown lands at Te Puke. Granted. J. H. Withoford applied for a license to proxpect for gold over Crown land in Block XVI., Waitoa. A telegram was received from VV. Abbey, twenty minutes "'.'•Mr. Witheford's application was reZV V ? Skelton, Whakapirau. Opuawhanga.— The application of George Lacaesie to sell totara piles off his selection at Opuawhanga was referred to the Crown Lands Ranger to report on. Mabaretc;.—John Erneete, a homestead settler at Mareretu, wrote explaining hie non - fulfilment of homestead conditions. Extension of time granted. Applications fok Lands.— Thomas Shore applied for 150 acres at Opuawhanga under the homestead system. Approved. K. stew« art and four others applied for 300 acres in Waipu under homestead system. Refused, as land was State Forest Reserve. K. VV. Houghton wrote in reference to his application to purchase section 2, Blook XII., Kaipara Surrey District. Referred to AssistantSurveyor General to report on. B. Kemiger applied for a strip of land between the Great .North Road and the Eider Creek, in the parish of Ahuroa, to be offered for sale. Referred to the chairman of the County Council. E. Dumergue applied for lots 130 and 131, Town of upotiki, and 224 Parish of Waiotahi, to be offered for sale. Referred to Assistant Surveyor General to report on. Edward Oliver applied for a small island in Waikopua Creek, in the parish of Marae. tai, to be offered for • sale. Refused. Joseph Kelsall applied that section 3, block XIII., Kaipara, be offered for sale, Granted. J. Stoupe applied for 100 acres, adjoining lot 75, of the parish of Waipa, to be surveyed and offered for sale under deferred payment system. Granted. J. Smith applied for Crown land adjoining lots 33 aud 46, parish of Matakana, to be offered for sale. Granted. A. K. Tothill applied for lot 133, town of Grahamstown, and lot 94, parish of Parihaki, to be offered for sale. Town section to be advertised for sale ; other eootion already sold, 8. Bright, Onehunga, applied for lots 575 and 576, of town of Cambridge, to be offered for lease. Referred to the Assistant Surveyor-General to report on. John Webb applied for section 2, block IV, Moehau, to be offered for lease under perpetual leasing system. Granted. H Randolph applied for land in block XVI, Waitoa, to be thrown open for seleounder the perpetual leasing system, application not granted. Mr. W. U. Wallis applied for about 3 acres of lot 50, parish of Whangaroa, to be sold to him at the usual upset prioe. Referred to Assistant Surveyor-General to report o*. Kaiwaka, —Joseph Bowmar, county councillor, and 28 other settlers at Kaiwaka, Otamatea county,, wrote asking that the north-east portion of lot 82, Kaiwaka, be withdrawn from sale, and set apart as a timber reserve. Withdrawn temporarily till inquiry be made.

Awakaca.— The application of W. Parker to resume poeaeeeion of his homeatead selection at Awakaua was refused.
