Vs(;ToSj Thursday. r,,. _ sub-committee oi the New Zealand Rifle Association, consisting of Captain SomerviHo, of Wanganui (chairman), Captain Rogers (Blenheim), and Captains MsCredie and Collins (Wellington) have drawn up a programme for the next meeting, winch commences at Oamaru on Monday, tin 29 ;u February. It has been decided to divide the matches into stages, as follows The first stage, which is open to all members, will comprise ranges from 200 to 600 yards, and in two instances, there will be standing and kneeling positions at 200 and 300 yards. In j addition to the prize money for individual matches, the following prizes will be given to the highest aggregate scores in this stasje : Highest aggregate, £20 and silver medal ; second, £15 ; third, £10; fourth, £5. The second stage will be confined to the 60 highest aggregate scorers in the first stage, and these will firo ten shots at both 700 and 800 yarda, the usual money ! prizes bning given for the highest scorers. The final stage, for the honour of beiug champion ahot of New Zealand, will be opei? to the thirty highest scorers in the first and second stages, aud ten shots will be tired at 900 yards, the scores in this heat to be added to the previous aggregate, and the highest total to be the champion. In addition to the belt the champion will take the New Zealand Rifle Association's cold medal and £50; aecond higheot, £35; third, £21- ; fourth, £20; fifth, £10. The committee decided to make no alteration in the conditions for the Teams Match, which remains as in former years. This match will comprise four distances, the longest being 600 yards. £200 will be given, cut up into eight prizes, the highest being £50, in addition to which the winning team will hold for the year Hobson'a Cup valfl'«" / £22. It ha 3 been decided to revive the match North v. South, in which the twenty highest aggregate* scorers in the North and South Island corps will be pitted against one another. The Rifle Challenge Cup will bo held for the year by the highest scorer in the winning team, and the Carbine Challenge Cup by the highest scorer in the losing team. The committee have agreed to ask for designs for a new Champion Belt, the value of which is not to exceed £50. The disposal of the present rifle and carbine was discussed, and although a deoision was arrived at, it was thought advisable not to publish it for tho present. The total amount of prize money to be given away at the meeting is £1200. The Leehemington is the weapon to be used, and 10,000 rounds of ammunition are to bo procured from America.
