THE CONTEMPT OF COURT CASE. Melbourne, September 16. The appeal of Thomas Dakin, who was fined for contempt of Court in refusing to stop his workmen making a noise to the annoyance of the Court, has besn dismissed by the full Court. ACTION FOR LIBEL. Melbourne, September 16. Mr. Julian Thomas ("The Vagabond") has commenced an action for libel against the Wesleyan Spectator. Damages are laid at £2000. THE BELLINGER. Sydney, September 16. The s.s. Bellinger, chartered by the Federated Seamen's Union, has sailed for Auckland via Newcastle. A MELBOURNE DEFAULTER. Melbourne, September 16. Kelly, the manager of Schukraft's business, has been found guilty on a charge of defaulting, and was sentenced to a line of £1000. AN UNSEEMLY DISPUTE. Perth (W. Australia), Sep. 15. The quarrel which has been proceeding between Chief Justice Onslow and the Governor, Sir Napier Broome, was brought to a climax to-day, by the interdiction of the Chief Justice in consequence of his having communicat"" to the Press a copy of official docaments relating to the dispute. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. . Sydney, September 16. New Zealand wheat is quoted at 3s 3d to 3s 6d, New Zealand oats, Is lOd to 2s 2d; maize, is; potatoes, 20s to 255.
Adelaide, September IC. Wheat is neglected at 3s Sd. Flour is dull at the following quotations :— Town flour, £9 5s to £9 10s; country brands, £8 5s to £8 10s.
