I Sib, — Your correspondent "8.C." la [ rather hasty in coming to conclusions. My letter was oil the question of dealing with city refute, and he adds, " that is the closet refute." I never wrote so, because closet boxes are not emptied into the drains or the harbour. He adds, that what is wanted "is easily attained by a thoroughly applied system of sufficient earth." Jfixaotly—but can you compel persons to use earth at all I The contractor has stated that number of persons absolutely refuse to be supplied with earth freo of cost 1 How are you to compel persons to be oleanly is the enigma to bo solved. Mr. '* 8.C." also remarks that a little common sens? ia also required. No doubt, but that is a commodity not always on hand . with theorists. Ae regards what farmer*: oopld expact, they certainly (by tWffiff silence) showed little inclination upon' the' subject, as they could not possibly know in < rthat they were to receive the night soil until they had inquired, *nd were in possession of the required information.X am, Ac., - . .• M.
