DOG SHOW.

The dog show in connection with the Poultry Association, whose show was held last week, was opened yesteiday in the Agricultural Hall. The exhibition, comprising 107 ex* hibitß, includod an immenso variety of the canine breed, and their distinctive howls were very audible in the neighbourhood of the hall. The breed most largely represented were fox terriers, but amongst sporting dog a there were some splendid specimens in the classes of setters, spaniels, retrievers, and pointers. The large size dogs—mastiffs, Newfoundlands, and St. Bernard's — were nobly represented, and the liner samples of tlio race in tho smaller classes were admirable and well classed. Bulldogs, of all ages and degrees of ugliness, of temper, end disposition, wore to be seen, from the three months' old puppy, which will viciously bite ,at anyone attempting to caress it, to the brute who displays all the muscular power of ja ft which is capable of crushing the bone of an ox. Greyhouuda, curiously enough, do not show well, and we are surprised at this considering the number of people here who go in for ooursing, and the really fine ql;ibh of dogs of this breed that we have in Auckland. Several classes were unrepresented. Mr. Kinloch judged the mastiffs, Newfoundlands, St. Bernarda, pointers, setters, retrievers, etc. ; Mr. Maguire was the judge in the greyhound class, and his task was a very lu>,ht one; and Captain Corbott had the more delicate task of awarding the prizes for the various classes of terriers and bulldogs.
