ELECTRIC LIGHTING.
TO THE BDITOR,
Sir.—My Attention baa bean drawn to an editorial paragraph which appears in your issue of 2nd instant, and which refers to the Thomson-Houston system, tor which favorable notice I thank you very muoh. There are, however, a few errors which are not unusual in such oases when dealing with techuioal subjects, and i will thank you to allow me to correct, for the benefit of the public, the most prominent one, The Thom-son-Houston system in a new and in every way most satisfactory system of "arc" lighting, as opposed to the incandescent system you make reference/ to, although incandescent lamps, such as yon once had trial of in your offices, aro often rased in conjunction with the "arc" lamps of this system. As evidencing the va'/ue of the system for town lighting, I mention below the extensions of it in America, and it is also attracting great attention in England, for in addition to the gold medals of the Inventions and the Kdinburgh Exhibitions, several large towns are arranging 'Lac their lighting by its means. I am, etc., Walter .Prince. DunedLoj March 11, 1887.
