The batrjue Brunette was berthed at the Railway whnrf j-estor.lay, there to land her cargo of coal from Newcastle. The schooner Lily goes hence to the Thames, there to load timber for Lyttelton.
The s.s. Clansman from T»uranga, lona from Great Barrier, anil Wellington from Whangarei, arrived in harbour early yesterday morning. They left again last evening—the former for Tauranga, the Wellington for Whangarei, and the lona for Mercury Bay. At 2 p.m. to-day the Gienelg is to make her usual excursion trip to th« Waiwera, From there she is to return on Monday morning. The barque Lincltidon was brought alongsido the breastwork yesterday, there to land her ballast. After doing this she is to go into dock for cleaning preparatory to her loading kauri {on for New York. The barqu-i Cassandra entered out at the Customs yesterday for Lyttelton. For there gbe is to shil on Monday next.
The s.s. Arawata is to be the flagship at the next B<y of I lands Regatta. The event is fixed ■for the 2nd M "-cli, and the Arawata will make a special trip t.j Russell on the occasion. A preliminary inquiry has been held by Mr. Hill, the Collector of Customs, into the circumstances attending the stranding of the brigantine M*ria Virginia in the Whangarei River. The evidence taken has been sent on to Wellington.
At 2 p.m. yesterday the Col. Gov. b.s. Stella arrived at Whangarei from this port.
, The s.s. Te Anau, hence, arrived at Gisborne nt 2 p.m. ye.itetday, and soon afterwards left again for Napier.
The s.s. Kahu and Australia both left Gisborne for this port yesterday. The former Bailed at 2 p.m., and tho Australia at 8 a.m.

The barque Drfvonport, from Melbourne, ■with a cargo of stone, for ugo in the construction of the C.lliope Dock, came into harbour last evening, dropping anchor off the dock. Captxin Alex. Campbell reports having sailed from his port of departure on the 18th January last, and to having had nothing but » succession of light easterly and N.E winds and fine weather throughout the voyage. The «.s. rierald has been docked by Messrs. Sims and Biown. She is to receive a thorough overhaul. After she comes out her place will lie taken by the barque Liocluden. The K M s.s. Alameda may be expected to arrive from San Francisco during the course of to-morrow. Upon her present trip the steamer was two days late in getting away from San Francisco, She brings dates from London to the 30• h December, and from San Francisco to the 17• h January, and from Honolulu to about the 24tli of the same month. The cricket match, master mariners against n.M. Customs, is to tike place this afternoon, and the place of rendezvous is St. Heliera Bay. The fine ami commodious streamer Argyle has been chartered for the occ<«ion, and she is to leave the end of the Queen-street Wharf at 1 p.m. A great amount of interest is being ohown in tho match, and already there has been a large demand for tickets. These will be obtainable a,t the steamer to day at Is each for .the icturn journey. Captain Fisher, the
deputy harbourmaster, has been appointed to take charge of the Mariners, and Mr. La Nanze has been appointed Collector over the Customs officers. There is no doubt that the match will prove one of the roost interesting and amusing that ha» been nlared this season. I j ; ' j
