[BY TELEGRAPH.— CORRESPONDENTS.] AEROA, Thursday. Woodstock.Railey's battery commenced on 8 tons at four p.m. on Saturday, and cleaned up yesterday. The result is 15620z amalgam, which returned 2740z of bullion, or 340z per ton. The class of dirt is similar in quality and from the same locality as that treated at the furnace, which gave only £10 sterling per ton. Rose.—Railey's battery is now ornshing 16 tons. The plates are looking well. They expect to clean up on Saturday. The main low level is going in from the county road, and will soon be in 165 feet. The last 50 feet have been through very hard country. They expect a change in 10 or 12 feet further. No. 3 lead stopes are being beaten out. Quartz is coming to hand of Che same grada as that now being treated. In putting in the low level they have come on a very hard belt of blue country, which the local authorities have taken advantage of, and are now using as road metal, and have men at work on the main road preparatory to tram connection works, the lino of which is now being cleared by the contractor. An application has been made to the Warden here for a special claim on the West Coast, between Martin's Bay and Milford Sound, by a party of prospectors, one or whom has been in the district for a long time. The party have brought i.ith them samples of gold of a very coarse character studded with quartz.
