WAIKATO AND THE AUCKLAND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
[BY TKLKGRAFI'.— OWN C /Rrespondent.] Hamilton, Monday. The Mayor has received the following (dated December 21) letter from the Distriot of Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, in reference to the case of William Blandford:—
"Sir,—ln reply to your letter of yesterday's date, lam rooted by the Auckland Hospital Board to inform you that the maa William Btandford has been admitted to the Hospital as a fit subject for treatment, and as one who has the right to admission on the ground of being a resident within this Hospital district. With regard to your guarantee of payment of the fees, I am to say that there was no necessity for such a course, unless _ taken in your capacity of a private citizen or a friend of the patient. Residents in the counties of Waikato, Waipa, and Raglan have a perfect right to claim the benefit of the Auckland Hospital until the close of the financial year, ending 31st March next.—(Signed) H. N. Gauland." The Mayor has replied, informing the Board that Blandford belongs to Auckland, having arrived here invalided some six weeks ago. The Waikato County Counoil have been summoned by the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board for their contribution, alleged to be due to the 31st March next.
