An article appears in the Morning Post, supposed to be inspired by the Government, stating that Germany cannot rely on the friendship of Russia whilst the latter continues to mass troops on her frontier and to coquet with France. With the exception of the Daily News the English Press considers the situation on the Continent as becoming grave. London, December 22. Numerous vague rumours are circulated as to the increase of • armaments by Austria and Russia, who are reported to be preparing for war in the ensuing spring.
