[by telegraph.—press association.] New Plymouth, Tuesday. The Minister of Public Works visited th breakwater this morning in company witl Mr. Samuel, M.H.R., snd the members c the Harbour Board. He expressed himsel pleased at the way in which the structur had been built, and recommended them t continue the apron work on the outside A deputation waited on him at eleven o'oloo] which was more in the direction of welcom ing him to the place than to ask for any thing. The deputation expressed its approva of the present railway time-table, and hope< that no change would be made in it, as th traffic was fast increasing on the line sinci it had come into force. Mr, Eiohardsoi visited Waitara in the afternoon, and return to Wellington to morrow. Wanganoi. Tuesday. A'deputation, headed by Mr. Bryce, waitei on Mr. Richardson on Saturday, with th object of getting the railway time-table a] tered to suit the local traffic more than a present. The contention of the deputatio: was that the wants of the district are bein subordinated for the sake of a few passenger between Wellineton and Auckland; tha the through traffic did not pay the Govern ment as well as the ordinary trains, and the; were losing by the present system. Mi Riohardson seemed Inclined to favour th alteration of the time-table. It is pro bable that the express service for two days a week will remain as now but the dail; train between here and Wellington wii be altered to suit the requirements of th district.
