The service of song, " Simon Jasper." which wh so successfully given in the Grafton Road ■choolroom a short time ago, is to be repeated in the lame place on Thursday evening next. Mr. J. A. Airston will read the narrative, while Mr. Gatland will again wield the baton. . The admission fee will be as before, It for adults and 6d for ohildren, bat three tic Ice may be had for 2t from any of the teaohera or from Mr. W. E. Mears, Queen-street. Next Thursday at half-past seven will be the day and time. ■ The Band of Hope Union choir has arranged to visit the Bands of Hepe of the Ponsonby district on Monday next, when the cantata, "The Conquest of Drink," will be performed in the Ponsonby Hall for the first time under the. new conduotor, Mr. Parkin. As the cantata is not very lengthy, it will be supplemented with a few choice miscellaneous items, I principal among which will be a reading by Mr. Airston, entitled, " Christmas Eve in a Belfry," 1 and a good entertainment la promised.
