It seems the mffiane were apparently deeiroui after their carouse, of entering the store'of Messrs W. Lyons and Company. Fort-street, to lie down and sleep off their debauoh. The storeman, Mr. J. T. Hβ was set anon and savagely kicked about the head and tuner part of the body till rendered nearly Insensible; and his assistant, after vainly attempting to rescue Dines, had to dear out himself, after getting some illtreatment. Meanwhile a boy named Dudley Gardner bad run to the police station, and Sergeant Kiely » nd Constables Russell and Keany beine handy, started for the scene of war. A free titjht ensued between the firemen and the police, which ended in the arrest of two, after a deaperate struggle, and the flight of the Test, who were ultimately captured through 'the aid of Constable Cotter, with the assistance of the crowd. Mr. Dines was then removed in a trap to Dr. Walker's residence, y re y-street, in a semi-unconscious state, where his injuries were examined and attended to before sending him to his home. Pγ. Walker found no leae than fourteen kick marks on the unfortunate man's body. He remains in a precarious state. His brutal assailants will be brought up to-day at the Police Court to answer to the charge.
