Mr. Alfred Boardman has been fined £5 and compelled to pay three times the amount of his liability, for not having furnished the department with a correct return .his property. TITOKOWARU. This redoubtable chief waited upon the Native Minister to-day. The object of his visit was to pray that Te Whiti should be allowed tobacco in the gaol, for the benefit of his health. The Hon. Mr. Ballanv.e told the one-eyed chief that this question qf tobacco arid its being conducive to the prophet's health was a question exclusively for the doctor.
