Arthur and Buddle report a fairly busy week in all departments, with every prospect of improvement. Produce and fruit were in good demand at auction yesterday, and that of good quality sold w«ll. Poultry and pigs also brought good prices. The mark.t is still overstocked with bacon of inferior quality, which is difficult to sell at any price. It must be good and well got up to command a price. Cheese of good quality is wanted. Fruit has brought high prices, but little to hand. Gooseberries, the first for the season, were sold yesterday ; the prices were high. Growers must be careful to send only full-irrown fruit, and not to overstock. At Monday's sale of household furniture at a residence In Upper Queen-street there was not a large attendance, bidding very slow, prices low. Tuesday: Sale of household furniture, piano, &c„ at Mart. A fair number present, but little spirit in the bidding. Still a fair amount of business was done ; pianos sold at £12 10s and £20. Thursday : Sale of organ fittings, Ac at old Biptlit Church. Wallesley-street. for the Young Men's Christian Association. A good number attended, and prices were upon the whole satisfactory. The sale of drapery, clothing, Ac., at Mart was well attended, and good prices were obtained. Friday: Market-day »ale. Large attendance, good competition. A large amount of staff changed hands at prices that may be considered good.
