VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.

The weekly parade of the Auckland Royal Dragoons took place on Tuesday night. There vtae a good muster preient. It was announced at the close of the parade that the troop would proceed, on the 9th, to Otahuhu and Panmure. Athletic sports and racing are announced, and a considerable amount has, through the exertions of Lieutenant Erson, been gathered together for prizes. Copies of the bye-laws framed for the regulation of the troop were issued to those present. Every man is expected to be in possession of one of these copies without delay, any objections are to be made at the parade on the 9th. Arrangements are in progress for a cavalry ball, in connection with the Auckland Koyal Dragoons (late Lancers), which, under distinguished patronage, promises to be a success. "O " Battery of Artillery. —An inspeotion parade of the "0" Battery of Artillery was held in the Drill-shed last night, when •W» was a good muster of the company, ui der c tnmandof Captain George. Hon. Captaiu vVhitney, and Lieutenants Wasteneys and Gilmore, were also present, v meeting of the corps was held, at which an alteration in the rules was made in regard ro subscriptions, etc. It was announced that a rebate of £44, paid as Customs duties on the uniforms, had been paid by the Government. It was also intimated that the erection of an orderly room for the use of the battery at the Drill-shed, was in hand, and a grant of money had been obtained for the work. It was arranged, with a view to encouraging shooting in the corps, that a cup should be purchased in London, to be shot for by the company. A second trophy was also oflerod for the best attendance at drill, etc., during the year. It was also stated that the Government had given the battery permission to count two gnn-drills aa an attendance at a daylight parade. The corps will assemble for class-firing at the range at eight a.m. to-morrow. Gun-squads for Monday were also chosen. The following is the state of Her Majesty's Prison, Auckland, for the week ending 23rd October : — On remand, 9 male, 1 female ; awaiting trial, 4 males; boys, 2; penal servitude, 37 males ; hard labour, 80 males, 11 females ; imprisonment, 2 males, 0 females; default of bail, 6 males 2 female ; received during the week, 20 males, 8 females ; discharged, 14 males, 5 females. Total in prison, 140 males, 14 females.
