Gintlemen, -I heartily thank you for the flatter' ing and Influential requisition you have presented to me. In deference to your wishes, I accept the position of Candidate, and I trust that my life long experience of the vicissitudes of colonial life, and an ardent desire to promote the settlement and prospeiity of the country, to develop and utilise its many and varied resources, and to foster all oar local Industries, justify me in asking for the confidence and support of the Electors generally. I shall take an early opportunity of addressing the Electors in the various cent's' of population in the County, and giving my views on the political questions of the day.
