OTAHUHU PUBLIC HALL COMPANY.
The annual meeting of the shareholders of the Otahuhu Public Hall Company was held in the boardroom on Wednesday evening last, at eight o'clock p.m. Mr. Sturges, chairman of directors, oocupied the chair. The following directors were also present : Messrs. John Hall, Koßert Robertson, and Rev. F. Gould. Messrs. S. Luke, H. Hall, G. Willis, and John Gordon, shareholders, were also present. The minutes of last annual meeting were read and confirmed. The secretary read the following report and balance-sheet: Directors' report for the year ending October 20, ISS6. The directors have much pleasure in submitting this, the twenty first annual report and balance-sheet. The additional accommodation provided by the company appears to be fully appreciated by those using the hall, more especially would the directors point out the great advantage to the district in having a room set apart nightly for the use of the publio, the number attending averaging 20 persons. Your directors have also seen fit to purchase scenery and curtains, which adds to the appearance of the stage, and gives increased facilities for those using the same During the year Mr. Luke resigned the office of director, which he held for so long a time, the Rov. F. Gould being elected to take his place. The receipts for the year amount to £95 15s 3d, including £4 6s 3d, the proceeds of concert. The Hall has been lot 95 times during the year, showing an increase of business as compared with last report. The balance in hand at the beginning of the year was £23 ISs 7d. Your directors regret nothing has been done to liquidate the debt of £300, but hope at the next meeting to report favourably on this matter. The liabilities amount to £5 12s 6d. The sum of £3 12s 6d, unclaimed dividend declared November 15, 18S2, still remains in the hands of the secretary. Messrs. R. Robertson and J. W, Wallace are the retiring directors, both of v bona are eligible for reelection. — Alfkrd Stprgks, Chairman. Expenditure : By architect's account, £20 ; interest, £22 10s; Mitchell'* salarv and overtime, £9; secretary's salary, £7 103 ; insurance, £5 Ss ; kerosene, lamp, glasses, £7 lis ; lamps, £2 12s ; chairs, £6 15s ; Goodwill's account, £1 12s 6d ; Pickitt' account, £1 5s ; Mitchell's account, 15s ; scenery and curtain, £4 Is ; tuning piano, £1 10s ; rates,£lss; advertising,'£l; registration 5s ; sundries. 9< 61 ; balance in hand, £26 4s lOd : total, £119 13s 10d. Examined and found correct: J. Willis, J. Gordon, auditors. The Chairman moved the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, and in a lucid address explained the items of accoant, and held out great hopes of the future prosperity of the company. Mr. Robertson seconded the motion, and after a few words of homely advice on the desirability of keeping the working expenses as low as possible, and the directors assenting to the principle, the motion passed unanimously. On the motion of the Rev. F. Gould, Messrs. R. Robertson and J. Wallace, the retiring directors, were re-electcd. On the motion of Mr. Luke, Mr. Fallwell was elected secretary and treasurer. Mr. Gordon was re-elected auditor for the shareholders. A vote of thanks to the directors and chairman of meeting brought the business to a close. —[Own Correspondent.)
