THE WRECK OF THE LYTTELTON.

Nelson, Monday. — The inquiry into the wreck of the s.s. Lyttelton was held to-day before Mr. O. Curtis, E.M., and Captain Robinson Assessor. The Court found that the steamer was wrecked upon a sunken rock in Current Basin on 30th September last, but the evidence fails to fix the precise locality of the accident; that the disaster does not appear to be attributable to want of care or seamanship on the part of the master or the officers of the vessel. The certificates of Captain Forbes and the other officers were returned. In the evidence it was stated that if a beacon weie erected at the Beef Barrels there would be no danger of vessels running on them, and the Court was asked to recommend the . erection of such beacon. The Collector of Customs undertook to represent the matter to the Government.
