According to a statistical statement in the Cronatadt Gazette, no fewer than 26 vessels of various types have been begun, completed, or equipped within the last year for the Baltic and Black Sea fleets of Russia, or for the Siberian flotilla. Of these the most important aro the large ironclads Catherine, Tchesme, Sinope, Imperator, Alexander 11., and Admiral Nachimoff, and, furthermore, tho gunboats Sivutcn and Bober, and several torpedo boats of the Lieutenant II in pattern. The building of granite walls at tho port of Cronstadt has also been proceeded with, and ducks have been constructed at Sebaetopol. Considerable additions have likewise been made to the steel-armour manufactories of Obukhoff. The plan of converting the port Libau, in Courland, into a naval harbour is said to have boon abandoned, but on the other hand it is likely to be made a squadron station for the Baltic fleet.
