POLICE COURT.—Saturday. (Beforo Messrs. s>. Y. Oollins and W. H. Colbeck, jr.'s.) Drunkenness. —Two women were punished for this offence, and a man was also mulcted in the usual penalty for a first offence. Kate Power, for a third offence, was fined 10n and costs. The Bootmakkrs' Strike. — Lyndon Brenuan was clnrged with behaving in Waketield-street, whereby u breach of the peace may have been occasioned, on April 22. Mr. Thco. Cooper appeared for the defendant, and applied for a remand to Wednesday. Sergeant Pratt said he had intended to make the aame application. The bench remanded the defendant to Wednesday. An application was then made by Mr. Cooper to have the defendant admitted to bail. Superintendent Thomson said there would be no objection to the defendaut'e bail being enlarged to Wednesday. Mr. Cooper suggested that it should be in the defendant's own recognisances of £10, as he could easily be found. Bail granted the defendant in his own recognisances of £10. Alleged Breaking into a Frdit-stall. —John Beeston (14), Charles Wynn (11), and Herbert Willott (9) were charged with breaking and entering a fruit-stall and stealing a quantity of lollies and cordial*, valued at 10s, the property of Charles Sharpe, at Cheltenham Beach, Devonport, on April 21. Sergeant Pratt said the lads had only been arrested that morning. On account of their ago he asked for a remand to Saturday, when tbe Resident Magistrate could deal with thorn and perhaps have them sent to the Industrial School. The parents of the lads were in court. Remanded to Saturday next, May 1, and the lads to be admitted to bail on their parents entering into the necessary recognisances. Imposition.—Frank Nicholson, on remand from April 16, was charged with imposing on H. Cranswick on February 17. Mr. Theo. Cooper appeared for the accused, and asked for a remand to Wednesday next. Remanded to Wednesday, and the accused admitted to bail in his own recognisances of £50 and two sureties of £25 each. Bailwat Crossing Cask.—John McGregor, carter, was charged with driving his horsa and cart over the Breakwater Road railway crossing, vrhea an engine was approaching, on April 17- On the application of Sergeant Pratt, the case was adjourned to Saturday, May 1.
