THE BOARD OF EDUCATION AND NEWMARKET.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—While waiting on the Board of Education the other day, I stated that the Board was making an exception in our case when they required us to contribute 12$ per cent on the coat of the building. Mr. Goldie made a statement that the Epsom Board bed given £230 towards their school, I find that the Epsom Board Toted £20, sod the Onetree Hill £10, and that is the only money subscribed. It is true the Epsom Board had the site, and they requested the Government to vest it in the Education Board. But it never cost them anything, so that really this £230 of Mr. Goklio'a is only £30 cash. It is said that Mr. Goldie, being interested in the Primitive Methodist chapel, which is used for an infant school, does not want to lose the £20 a-year rent that is now paid for it. If he wants that impression removed let him vote for the erection oi the alterations for which plane have been prepared and approved.—i am, Sec, John Jenkins, Chairman Newmarket School Committee. April 5, 1886.
