Cambria.—llo loads of quartz yielded 2Goozs of amalgam. Moanatairi Extsndkd.—The manager reports gold is seen freely in the stringers.in the northern crosscut. Amaranth. — Tho mine manager telegraphs :—" Four feet into reef, little gold." New Find.—The mine managor telegraphs: —" Rbturn from battery, 100 trucks crushed, 750z8 ; tailings, 32ozs 8 trucks; D. Gully, Oozs ; total : 116ozs gold." SiLVKRTON. — The mine manager telegraphs :—"Fifty pounde picked stone from Silverton low level ; oighty pounds from winze ; good show both places; about two tons splendid quality general stuff from level since Monday. Moanataiahi Kxtendkd —The niino manager telegraphs :—"Can see gold freely in stringor in northern crosscut, No. 2 level." MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Cambkia.—The rise from No. 4 level has hole d through to the intermediate, but before putting tho timber in the drive at No. 4 level below tho rise, ifc was necessary tcr extend the No. 4 level 10 feet past the rise, so as the shots would not break or injure the sots. This work will be completed tomorrow, when timbering will be commenced. This will take about two days. We will then be in a position to break out quart* at the intermediate and send it down tine pass. Wo also intend to try nud use the rock-borer on tho reef when we start breaking out quartz at this level, Men will also be put on to drive on the cross reef as soon as tho rise is timbered. operations are still continued above No. 3 level, and sulHcicut quartz is still beiug obtained from hero to keep tho battery going. 'I he stuff that haa been put through this week has been shaping a little better than it has done for some time back. 110 loads wore crushed during the week for '26' Ooze of amulgam. Dakwin. —Tho drive on the hanging wall of the reef at No. 2 level has been driven 15 feet during the week. Colours of gold wore seen here during the week in the hanging wall portion of the reef. There is a break crossing the drive which haa heaved the reef more into the footwall. Tho drive on the footwall portion oi the reef is in a distance of 59 feet. There are some good-louking stiriugers of quartz iu the footwall of tho reef. The country is also good with nice mineral veins running through it.

Wei.comk (Karangahake), — Operations wore atarted on Monday last, the 20th of March, in your mine, aince which tune a quartz paddock has been out out, and an underhand etope on the crop of tha reef commenced. The thickness of good ora at present is from 3 to 4 feet, and the total thickness of the reef from 12 to 16 feet. My reasons for running an underhand stopa are— first, to determine the course of the good run of ore ; and secondly, to break out a few tons for test purposes as quickly as posbiblc. To-day I have forwarded 112ibe of ore to Mr. Kiluy, at the Itanhoe battery, to be treated by his pan process.

1 vAMiois (Karangahake),—During tho past week we have been engaged in filling in the stopes south of No, 1 winze, and commenced stopiug. There is no change in the reef since my last report. The reef in the stopes south of No. 2 winze has opened out to about three feet six inches in thiokness, aud of a fair class of crushing dirt. Wβ have advanced tho second etope above the intermediate, within six feet of the Scott boundary. I intend to take this stope to the boundary. The contractors are making fair progress in advancing the crosscut at No. 2 level ; the country is of a tight class of sandstone. During the past week we have crushed 22 tons of company's quartz for tlie leturn of (>oj./.s of amalgam from tho plates and berdans, and tiuiehed cnmhiug a parcel of 16 tone for the Koso G.M.Co. for the return of 3207.s 15dwts retorted golt'.

JSew Ai.BUBNIA. —During the past week the stopes on the Success and Star of the South reefs hare been advanced about nine feet each way. The crushing dirt coming to hand is of fair quality. Gold ie seen iu eaoh of the reefs every breaking down, but no specimens have as yet beon obtained. Two hands are employed on Sons of Freedom etopes, from which fair crushing dirt is being obtained, Irwin and party banked 551bs of specimen Rtone, obtained from third stope ovtr Whan level, Success reef. Bice and party, on Star of the South reef, Whau level, ohtain a few pounds of specimens occasionally.

SAXON.—I had hoped this week to report a find of gold in the hillward drive on Ho. 3 level, as every indication points to that desired result, but so far, no gold has been i seen, excepting the colonrs mentioned in my report of the 16th of March list. The sandstone is of a first-rate description, and the face is one mass of stringers and leaders, some of them containing the minerals usually accompanyii.£ golii, and mineral aeams striking into them in all directions There i« still a distance of 250 icet to drive before the boundary is reached, and I am in hopes of unearthing somethiog good in this quarter any day. On the No. I reef at this level there is a large body of quartz going hillward, the face of which is about 25 or 30 feet from the big heave, and it ts my intention, after tho present crushing is out of hand, to continue the drive on this reef up to the break. I am more inclined to this couriso, as the block on No. 3, reef at No. 5 level is looking poorer, aud is nearly exhausted. Crushing was commenced at the New Prince Imperial battery on Friday laet, and will be finished by the end of the preeent week.

The two pieces of quartz brought to town a few days ago by Mr. Alexander Campbell, found on a reef on Mauncatautari, have been analysed at the Bank of New Zealand. Both the pieces of quartz—which are from different reefs—contain traces of gold and silver. The reefs are on the property of Messrs. Grice and Walker, in fact, on the far-famed Pukekura block, and it is the intention thoroughly to prospect them before giving up the search as hopelees.
