Mr William Noble, thp founder of the Blue Kibbon movement, is to visit Sydney in April, to conduct a Gospel temperance mission. The Rev. A. R. Fitohett has been appointed to the governing body of the Duqedin High Schools, vice Professor Mac* gregor. The Dunedin Herald makes the ridiculous assertion that the North Island will never be able " to sustain in comfort the same population as the South Island." It is said thait Sir J. Vogel is treating Mr. Collis shabbily because the financial results of the Exhibition are bad, and Mr. Collis must be made a scapegoat. The Wellington Post is sorry to learn that the reef from which the Golden Crown Company at Terawhiti were taking stone for crushing has suddenly closed in and been lost. The usual meeting of the Gospel Temperance Mission was held on Sunday evening in the Protestant Hall, Karangahape Road, Mr. Edwin Wood presided. Addresses were given by Mr. Markham and Mr. J. Brame. The steamer Hauroto, whioh left Wellington for Sydney on March 16, had on board 99 horses, 00 head of oattle, and 1120 tons cargo, shipped at Southern ports. She took in about 90 tons of cargo here, chiefly oonsilting of produce.
