A match for £10 a side will be run on the Cambridge racecourse on the 19th instant between Munro'B Orphan and Browne's Joey (Orphan did big things at the rccent Waipa Jockey Club races), and an interesting race is looked forward to by the local sport. With reference to the account of the meeting of the stewards of the Auckland Racing Club, which appeared in our issue yesterday, we have received the following letter "Sir, The report of the meeting held by the Auckland Racing Club to consider the disqualifications made by the Northern Jockey Club at their late meeting, which appeared in your issue of this morning, contains some inaccuracies. What did oocur at the meeting was that in the case of Kate, the representative of the Northern Jockey Club said that on inquiring into the matter since they found that there was nothing to implicate the owner of Kate with what was done by the jockey, therefore they were willing that the disqualification should be removed from the mare Kate, but that the jockey's disqualification should be endorsed. The case of Lochinvar was postponed for farther evidence, and the disqualification of May Flower and her jockey was endorsed. The feeling of the committee appeared very strong in the determination to assist country clubs in repressing all shady transactions on the turf so far as lay in their power. With regard to the remarks of Mr Thompson on the incompetency of the stewards of the Northern Jockey Club, that is a mere matter of opinion.—One who Was There."
