A POWDER MAGAZINE FIRED INTO.
Iby thleoaph.— yrv.su association.] Invercargill, Tuesday. The lessees of the powder magazine from the Harbour Board made a startling discovery last night. They say that recently on entering the magazine they found that a bullet had been tired into it, which had smashed the end of a case and scattered the powder over the floor. The magazine contained ten tons of gunpowder and dynamite, and i* erected on piles a few hundred yards from the coast, near an important part of the town, and abreast of the railway station. Frequent complaints hare been made of bullets from the volunteers' rifla - range crossing the river at groat risk to life.
