THE 11HIGA.NTINE DUNEDIN DISABLED. NaI'IKK, Oct. l-J. —The biigantino Dunedin, bound from Mercury Hay to Dunedin, bus put in here iu a distressful state. When off Capo Kidnappers she experienced a heavy southerly g ile. She ran for shelter, and made for tho leo of the Cape. On coming round she ran on a reef, and 1 commenced to till rapidly, but tho buoyant cargo of timber kept her alloat. She then made for Napier roadstead, and was towed inside. THE STEAMER WALLACE ON THE ROOKS. Guetmouth, October 13. — The Anchor Line nteamer Wallace, while coming iu this afternoon, being very light, was caught on the top of a roller and thrown dangerously near the rocks, and before she could regain her position iu the channel she struck on her quarter and landed on the stone work, whoro she lies full of holes. All the passengers and most of their luggage were got ashore. SUPPOSED WRECK. Wellington, Oct. 31.—The Marine Department have received tho following telegram from the Harbourmaster at Greymouth " Tho master of the steamer Oreti reports that while coasting close in to tho shore, ho observed the bull of a vessel of about 00 tons close to the beach, between Rocky Point and Remarkable Slip. Nobody was seen. Tho vessel looks beached." NAUTICAL ENQUIRY. Wellington, Nov. 2.—An enquiry into tho collision between the ateameis Jane Douglas and Tui was continued to-d»y, and after further evidence was taken tho question of Mijournment arose, when counsel for tho ciptain of tho Tui stated ho should require till Thursday week to enable him to tiling evidence from l'almerston North in his client'* favour, unless tho liench was satisfied from tho evidence taken that his ciieut was not to blame. The magistrate replied that the Bench, after hearing the evidence which had been adduced, considered that tho blame rested on the shoulders of Captain l'opo, and tho case was auj iurued until Thursday week. ARRIVAL OF THE RIMUrAKA. Wellington, Oct. (s.—The Riinutaka arrivod at l.o'l this afternoon from Plymouth. She brings 71 saloon, SI second-class, and 210 thirdclass passengers, all arriving in good health. The passage has occupied 40 days, 14 hours, 55 minute.', and her steaming time was 30 days, 11 hours, 10 minutes.
