THE NEW ZEALAND SHIPPING COMPANY.
ANNUAL MEETING. [BY TELEGRAPH. — PRESS association..] Christchcrch, Tuesday At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Shipping Company to-day, the Chairman, Mr. Murray Aynesley, mentioned that a communication had been received from the Admiralty asking if the company could arrange for their officers to serve for a time on board men of war, preparatory to their being placed in the Naval Reserve. A recommendation had been sent to the London Office to carry out the idea if practicable. He thought that as many of the company's officers were New Zealand born, the two years' experience they would thus have in the navy would be a great thing for them, and he had no doubt they would be a credit to the colony and the service to which they belonged. A dividend of 5 per cent, was declared, and the report, the gist of which has been previously telegraphed, was adopted. The retiring directors and auditors were re-elected. At a meeting of the directors held after, Mr. Coster was re-elected Chairman, and Mr. Murray Ayneeley, Deputy-Chairman of the company.
