Mr. Charles Todd, C.M.G.,' Post-master-General and Superintendent of Telegraphs, South Australia, opposes the proposal to connect Roper River, in the Northern Territory, with Normanton, in Queensland, by cable, preferring that communication should be made overland. from Normanton,- connecting with the Port Darwin line at Daly Waters. Mr. Todd also proposes that the system of urgent telegrams should be introduced, thus giving priority over ordinary cablegrams. ' ■ '
