POLICE COURT.—Thursday.

WUtcomb* J.P.'s.] Drunkenness.— Catherine Taylor, who had been iu the Hospital since 18th owing to injuries received from a companion oa Constitution Bill, Mechanics' Bay, when under the influence of liquor, was fined tfc and costs with the usual alternative. Bhkachbs oj , thb City By-laws.—Geo. McCaslin, Newton, admitted allowing three cows to wander in Hope town-street, on May 14, and a fine of 5e and costs 7s waa imposed. Gro. Walker, Alexandra - street, pleaded guilty to allowing his horse to wander in Hopetown-atreet on May 14, and was fined Iβ, and costs 7s. Gavin Wallace, Karaogahape Road, pleaded guilty to a breach of the by-laws in allowing his express to be driven without a light in Ponso.uby • road on May 18, and was fined 5a and oosts. John Campbell, Wellmgton-stroet, admitted allowing ten cows his proper!;/ to stray in Ponsonby - road on May 14. The Bench administered a caution, and a finis of 5s and costs, 7s, was imposed.
Nkighbouks' Quarrels.—Mary Breen, Lorne-etreet, pleaded not guilty to assaulting Mary Harrison, by striking her on the face with her fist on May 25, and sought to have the defendant bound over to keep the peace. Mary Harrison, Victoria Quadrant, prosecutrix, and Mary L. Fredericks, employer of tbe prosecutrix, were examined ; and Michael Brten, defendant's husband, and Another witness, were heard for the defence. The Bench ordered the defendant's husband to find a surety for £10, to keep the peaoe for a month.
Insulting Language. —An information charging Win. Knox, Dock-street, with using insulting language to John Howard on May 22, was struck out, as there was no appearance of the parties.
