THE ORIENTAL FAIR.

The Oriental Fair was re-opened in the Choral Hall yesterday, and- notwithstanding the inclement weather during the evening waa well attended. During the afternoon a very successful musioal programme was rendered by Mr. Ames and other friends. The hall was crowded during the evening, when a fair amount of business was transacted by the "Lady Merchants of Cairo." One of the attractions of the side entertainments last night was Mrs. Jarloy's Waxworks, introduced to the' audience by Mrs. Williamson. The highly amusing farco entitled "The Happy Pair," was very eleverly performed by Mr. and Mrn. R. Walker, and met with roars of laughter. This was followed by another very amusing, farcical sketch, " The Manager in Difficulties," in which the following took part,: —Mr. Boss (the manager), Mr. Herbert Wai pole; Scrambo (the office-boy), Mr. Cecil Gardner; Herr Buffoswhiski (a pianist), Mr. Ames; Signor Codlambo (a base man), Mr. H. Walpole; Monsieur "Verdigrease (a sweet tenor) Mr. J. Fairburn. The Art Union for Miss Home's beautifully painted screen was drawn for, and it fell to Mrs. Cowie. Two-hand painted tables will be drawn for to-day. In our notice yesterday we omitted to mention that St Thomas's choir on Wednesday evening added much to the eucceie of the Fair, and that their pieces were well chosen and much appreciated by the audience. The receipts yesterday amounted to £95, bringing the total up to the handsome sum of £911.

A very diversified and interesting programme, which will be found in our advertising columns, is announoed for to-day, when the Fair will open again at noon. Amongst the attractions will be a gymnastic display by the Parnell Grammar School boys at half-past three p.m. In the evening the members of the Choral Society have.kindly contented to give a concert on the main hall from haltpus t seven to nine p.m. In order to effect a clearance, the ladies will make great reductions to-day on the goods in the stalls. The fair ie positively announced to close tomorrow night. '
