The Hon.- C. J. Pharazyn has resigned his seafc in the Legislative Council. The stables belonging to Mr. Valentine, V. proprietor of the Marine Retreat, Petone, were destroyed by fire early this morning. One horse and four greyhounds were destroyed. There was no insurance. The loss is estimated at £250.

BLENHEIM, Wednesday. The body of W. M. Young was recovered yesterday afternoon in a 22-feet hole in Pelorue Ri7er.
