ONEHUNGA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting was held on Monday evening. Present: Ihe Mayor (J.D.Jackson), Messrs. Ltanwoodie, Shad rick, Robinson, Sullivan, Hills, Tapp, Yates, and Webb. The correspondence was read. The Boboogh Bottndakiks.—Mr. Sullivan reported that Sir G. M. O'Rorke would meet the committee at an early date to consider the proposal to increase the area of the borough, so m to include the foreshore. Cdlvkbts—A request from Mr. Given re culverts was referred to the Engineer. Verandah.Permission was given to Mr. Morton to erect a verandah in front of his premises in Queen-street. Diseases.—The medical officer reported . that he bad been attending one case of diphtheria and one of typbus fever. Cemetery.—Applications from the Roman Catholic, Congregational, Wesleyan, and Presbyterian denominations for spaces in in the cemetery for burial purposes were referred to the Reserves Committee to report upon. Reserves.—On the motion of Mr. Yates, it was resolved to instruct the Reserves Committee to ascertain if the original reserve of fifteen acres at One Tree Hill is still available as a cemetery site. :•• counts. —Amounts amounting to £23 2s 9d were passed for payment, and the Town Clerk reported that, the amount for contracts now in hand was £185. Pound. —The Finance . Committee were authorised to take the necessary steps to provide shelter, &c, for the pound, as recommeuded in their report. Metal. —The Streets Committee recommended that steps be taken to use up the broken metal on hand in the improvement of the streets, and that tenders be called for the supply of 1000 yards of scoria ash.Authorised. •••• %rfri--: : .t£ •- ' •"• :••-•■ •• '■" -■' Culvkrts were ordered to be put in at the east and west sides of Queen-street, at: the junction of Church-street. Draink. i— an application from the licensee of the Terminus Hotel to allow, the drainage for the premises to be led into the Princes-street water tables was not granted. Dog Collars.—, the ; motion of Mr. Robinson, it. was agreed to allow the Dog Ranger a commission of ten per cent, on all collars sold by' him. ' ' ■.'"".' Footpath.—lnstructions were given (on the motion of Mr.Shaldrick) that tenders be called for, the formation of a section of the footpath on the east side of Queen-Street. Repairs to Main Road. —Tenders 1 were authorised to be called for the supply of four hundred yards of broken blue metal for repairs to the.main road. • Tenders to be for th« whole, or in lots of not less than fifty yards.—[Own Correspondent, March 10.]
