[BY TELEGRAPH. ASSOCIATION.] Chbistchurch, Saturday. Samuel Acoubt, blacksmith, was charged at the R.M. Court this morning with inflicting grievous bodily : harm on i his daughter, Neno Acourt, a girl of fifteen, by means of burning with a .kerosene lamp. The injuries the girl has. sustained are so severe that she will be . confined to bed probably for three weeks, and acoused was formally remanded till March 14. . It appears that on Thursday night last, about Dine o'clook, Acourt came home intoxicated, and found bis : daughter sitting by the fire reading by the light of a kerosene lamp. In a fit of temper he seized the lamp, and after making use of some abusive expressions, dashed it towards the . fireplace. The lamp burst, and some of the burning oil, falling, in the grate flared up the chimney, while Miss Acourt's dress was also ignited. Acout then rushed out, leaving his daughter in flames. . Her screams attracted the attention of . her mother, who was in the house of a neighbour next ' door, and. who, fortunately, came in time 'to'' save her daughter from fatal injuries. Mrs. Acourt's hands were badly burnt, in her endeavours to throw her daughter down and roll something round her to stifle .the flames.
