[BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.} Dunedin, Friday. Mb. F. Foltok, who recently forwarded to Hie Excellency the Governor an offer to raise and eqoip, with the aisiatance of friends in Dunedin, a corps for despatoh to the seat of war in the Sondan, this morning received the following reply from His Excellency-:-•'Christchuroh, February 20, 18S5. 11.50 a.m.-Received your telegram yesterday afternoon. Appreciate highly the loyalty ot vourself and all concerned. I cannot reply, however, till I have obtained the opinion of my Ministers.— W. X , . D. Jhbvois. In the meantime, Mr. Fulton ia busily engaged in enliating recruits, and has met with great success. A well-known Auckland gentleman yesterday informed us that in the event of a New Zealand contingent being sent to the Soudan, or the New Zealand Government in anyway participating in the step taken by the flew South Wales Ministry, he would be prepared to subscribe £20 a-year towards defraying the necessary expense... No doubt were a fund started there would be no lack of subscriptions.
