We ai;e informed that it ia the intention of a number of Wellington merchants, after the session, -when the working survey is being made, to endeavour to have the point of junction of the central line of
railway shifted from Marton seven miles further south. If the statement be true, the conduct of the Wellington people is somewhat shabby. "When the linea which are authorised are completed they will have magnificent railway communication with the interior. The shifting of the point of junction from Marton further south would so far be a disadvantage to Auckland, as excluding from railway communication with us the fine district about Marton. We do not think the Government are disposed to give way to any such intriguing as is said to be on foot, and we are quite sure it would be stroDgly opposed. In all probability Auckland members will make a strong representation to the Government on this 3u'oject before tiie session closes.
