PRICE OF GAS IN DEVONPORT.

TO THE EDITOft. Sib, —Please allow me a small space to call the attention of the residents at Devonport to the price they are paying for gas. The net price in our beautiful "marine suburb " ia 12s 6d per 1000, whilst the net price in Auckland is 7s 61 per 1000—a difference of 66 per cent. I atn aware that there has been the cost of laying down the necessary pipes, and of erecting gasometer, etc., but even allowing for all tbi3, it looks as though consumers were paying through the nose for their luxury. In their own interest, one would think, the Gas Company might reduce the price, and increase the consumption as well as their profits. Ifc would not be a bad move for the Road Board lo take the matter up. By saving on gas they would have more to spend on roads. I commend the matter to their notice. I am, &0., Cheapness.
