ONEHUNGA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
The above Chamber met in the Borough Council office on Friday evening last, at the usual hour. Mr, Wm. Brierley was voted to the chair. The chief business was a consideration of the action of the House of Representatives ro the local. Harbour Bill, together with the more comprehensive one introduced in the Assembly at the instigation of the Auckland Harbour Board. The discussion proved that though some members would have been better satisfied had the local measure become law, there was, nevertheless, a unanimous, feeling that great good would be accomplished, and great benefits conferred on Onehunga and the surrounding districts, through the action of the Assembly in obtaining the promise of a uniform and equal rate of tariff for Auckland and Onehunga. It was finally resolved that the Secretary be instructed to send to SirG. M. O'Rorke, Mr. E. Hamlin, and other M.H.R.'a who had taken an active interest' in securing the foregoing, and also to respectfully _ urge that; the promise of the Hon. the Minister for. Public Works should have-immediate and practical effect. - It was also resolved to hold the meeting of the Chamber monthly daring the Bummer months, instead of fortnightly, as at present.—The Chamber was . thereupon declared adjourned, for a month. -
