Thia luted about half an hour, *ud was followed by a grand march past of the troop# in the usual manner first in companies and then in regiments, after which the Emperor expressed hia unequivocal satisfaction with officers and men, adding that he considered it hia first duty, as supreme Commander of the Army, himself to undertake this inspection, regardless of possible consequence. There were in aU fQurteen thousand infantry, two thousand cavalary, and eighty guns on the field, and the whole review went off most successfully. The Emperor remained in the saddle more than two hours, and-then drove back to the Palace, "where, at four o'clock, the usual parade dinner'took place, followed by a reception, the whole party afterwards attending the opera. '
