WAIUKU.
The commission appointed by the Presbytery of Auckland to induct the Rev. P. J. , Riddle with the'pastoral charge of Waiuku parieh, met in the Waiuku Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, the loth April, at •Blevfti a.m. The meeting was duly constituted by the Rev. T. Norrie, Moderator 'o£ commissions. The following commie'sioners were also present : —RβVβ. James Bruce and T. W. Dunn. An apology was read from the Rev. G. "B. Munro, stating that owing to a previous engagement he was unable to be present, and asking the Rev. •T. Norrie.to take the part assigned to him, namely, that of addressing" the minister. The edict was returned certified as having been duly served. Objections were then called for in the usual way by the Rev. J. Bruce, and none having been offered, the Rev. T. W; Dunn proceeded', to the pulpit, and 'preached a suitable discourse from Acts 28th, v. 15 : ." Whom, when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage." There'after the Rev. T. Norrie read a. narrative of the steps taken to fill the present vacancy, and put the usual questions before induction io Mr. Riddle, who gave satisfactory answers to the same. He was then solemnly inducted by prayer, ;and received the right, hand of fellowship from the commissioners present. The Rev. T. Norrie then delivered the charge to the minister, and the Rev. James 'Bruce suitably addressed the people. The commission was closed with prayer, and at the close of the proceedings Mr. Riddle: received a cordial welcome from his people; at the door of the churoh.. The. attendance, althongh at a bu»y hour, was highly satisfactory. In the evening a very .successful evangelistic meeting was held, presided oveir by the Rev. T. Norrie, the retiring Modekirk session, who gave the opening -address, .and • introduced the Rev. P. J. .Riddle aa the newly-inducted minister, who then,gave a moet impressive address,! and .; produced a very- favourable impression in regard to his suitability for the new. sphere , 0f... usefulness. Interesting and suitable .addresses were . also given by the Rev. James Bruce and Captain. Magill. — [A Correspondent, April 16.]
