ROTORUA BATHS AND TOWNSHIP.

A correspondent i,l the Bny of Plenty Times, writing from Ohioeinutu, says:— "There havo'been some marvellous cures lately, I was informed by Mr. Hall, the bithkeeper. One notable case of a lady from Melboure, who arrived at Koiorua suffering, from acute rheumatism, her hands and fingers being clenched ; in three weeks sbe wi»s quite convalescent, and had recovered the us>e of'her hands. One very bad case of skin disease is another instance of the wonderful curative properties of these springs. The patient in this esse was recommended to go to Wbakarewarewa, and it was estimated that at least eight months would be required to meet his case. After three months he is almost quite recovered. There is a good deal of difficulty experienced with some of the patiencs, who will not follow instructions, and these miss the benefits, and do injury to the reputation of these baths. Government have received notice of applications from 500 people to come at once as soon as the hospital is finished. What is to be done with all these is not known, and rumour has it that overtures are made to Mr. Kelly to build a large hotel opposito the hospital,' My idea of the township is that as soon as the necessary alterations are carried into effeot, there will bo such a rush in the place that the ordinary dimensions in the town will exceed anything that the Government have ever contemplated. I predict, as soon as the railways— both Taurauga and Waikato—are completed, things will move rapidly here. There has been a great outcry about the smell' of the sulphur fumes, but the r.octor says there is no inconvenience after the 6rat few days. Such, then, as you have' in the foregoing remarks is a fair account of the township of Rotorua."
