TO TUB EDITOR;'' _Sir,—A. report has gained currency, chiefly,' I imagine, through'.the agency of " Murray's Auckland. Time' Table -and' Diary," that the cost of travelling from Auckland to the Hot Lakes and back by the Waikato route, ia nearly , double that incurred via Tauranga. The above publication;Btates.the : co3t by the last: mentioned route to be £11 2a 6d return, and by. Waikato at £19 single fare. As many of your readers may bo misled by these figures, 1 take the liberty, of asking you to insert a contradiction; The; fact is that the .actual travelling expenses, return to Rotorua, ■ Wairoa, Terraces, ; eto.y by way of Hamilton' and Cambridge, is only .£5 18s 6d; made up as .follows : —Return ;rai I, first-class,' Auck-' land to Hamilton, £1 lis 6d ; trap to Ohine. mutu, covered or open, £3 12s-; Ohinemutu-to. Wairoa; return, 15s total, £5 :lSs 6d; On arrival at Ohin emu tu; of course, the expenses of living and costs of l native' boats, .etc.,- would ; be the same to passengers'' by the Waikato route as by Tauranga. Accepting the expenses published iu Murray Vguide-as -correct, the total cost o£ return .journey; living, Bight seeing, etc., by" Hamilton- and.'-Cambridge,''would 'not ■ ex«ceed £11 2s per head for a party of four, ■ and I am prepared to take any party, of not fewer-than four,-through from Hamilton for the money.—l am, &0., March 7« 18S4. .
