The schooner Endeavour from Lyttelton came into port yesterday morning, after a very fair passage of eight and a half days. Captain Buxton reports having left the port named on the 12th instant with light southerly to westerly winds, which prevailed until rounding the East Cape on the 17th instant. Thenoe easterly winds to port, with fine weather. The schosiier will be berthed to-day. .The weather during Wednesday night and yesterday was somewhat boisteToua, the wind coming in a fresh gale from the E.N.E. Every precaution was'taken by vessels in the harboar to provide against damag9, and so far no accidents are reported. Last evening the wind took off considerably, thoo'gh it was still blowing fresh, and in the place of the wind the rain fell heavily. The b.B. Glenelg, from Tauranga, and Rowena, from Mercury Bay, both arrived in harbour •arly yesterday morning. They left last evening, the former for Tauranga, and the Rowena fo? Whangarei. - In consequence of the unfavourable state of the weather, shipping business on the wharf was almost at a standstill yesterday, the work of discharging and receiving cargo being confined to goods of an imperishable nature. The barque Wenona was hauled oil from the Railway Wharf into tbe stream yesterday. She is to-day to be taken into dook for an overhaul. She left Newcastle on the 7th, in company with the 1 Linda (7eber and Three Cheers, but Bhe Has been unable to do more than get in ahead of the first named vessel, the Three Chetirs having the honour, as already reported, of having secured first place in what was looked upon as an ocean race. The Oceola left Newcastle on the 7th inst., with fresh N.E. wind, which continued until the 12th, at 8 p.m., wben. the wind hauled- to the Soutb, with small rain ; a strong sea throughout, ship keeping her decks constantly flooded. On the 13th weather more settled; wind prevailing from tbe South, which oontlnued until the 14th, when it abated, and falling to light winds, variables, and calms. Passed the Three Kings at noon on the 17tb, with light westerly winds and strong seuth-west ■well. After rounding the North Cape had moderate easterly winds until the 20tb, at 6 p.m., when tbe Hen a«d Chickens were abeam, wind and sea increasing fast, kept ship'tinder heavy -press of canvas to get sea. room, seas making olean breaches'over the vessel, and the gale fast increasing. Captain Bezer deemed it prodent to take in sail, which was done. Next day a strong gale, with high, agitated sea; at 4 a.m. wore ship, weather very thick ; at 10 a.m. the Little Barrier was abeam, ship labouring heavily, her decks being constantly flooded.
