ELECTION OF SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
MOUNT EDEN. The following gentlemen were elected as committee for ISS4 -.— Messrs; Gladding, Donaldson, Cole (Chairman), Hpoton (Secretary), Buttle, Smith, and Roberts. '.'. ELLERSLIE. '.'. The following were elected as a committee for the present year :—Messrs'.' D. Nolan, Wm. Hall, 3. McDonald, JR. McFarland, 14. S. Carter, C. S. Hill, and Wm. Wall. At a meeting held by the new committee, Mr. D. Nolan was .uuanimously elected Chairman, and Mr. R, S. Carter Secretary and Treasurer for the year, MANGERE. The following were elected a school committee, viz.:—Messrs. Matthew M. Kirkbride, Charles Washer, John Scott (jun.), Gavin Wallace, James Anderson, Christopher Pegler, John Wallace. The annual report of the outgoing committee showed total receipts £35 13s, all of which had been expended, and liabilities £1. The average number on the roll was 69, and the average atteodance SS. The committee expressed their satisfaction with the present teachers, Mr. Marshall and Miss Pasooe. OPAHEKE. The voting at the school committee election was as follows :—Hall, 54; Wilson, 34; Evans. 31 ; Jater, 30; Cossey, 29 ; Rev. Norrie, 27 ; Philpot, 23; Dukeson, 21; Walker, 20; McGregor, 19; Wallis, 18; \ouog, 15; Cottam, 6; Eyes, 1. At a meeting of the new committee the Rev. T. Norrie was appointed Chairman, and Mr. F. W. Evans Secretary. The report of the outgoing committee showed an advance had been made in the attendance at both Drury and Papakura school*, but that still fully 20 per cent, of the children did not attend half time. The statement of accounts showed receipts £65 15a 4d ; expenditure, £63 13s 4d; balance in hand, £2 2s; assets, nil; liabilities, £5. ' PLAT BUSH. At the annual meeting of the householders iu the Educational District of the Flat Bush, the following were elected members of the school committee for the ensuing year :— Smales, 61 ; Hunter, 43 : Whitton, 39; Murphy, 34 ; White, 28 ; R. Sutcliffe, 24 ; Woodward, 24. During the meeting, to test the views and feelings of the householders as to the demands for a male teacher, a show of hands was called for, when the result was—for a male teacher, 26 ; for a female teacher, 6 ; thus leaving a majority for a male teacher of 20. Mr. Smales was elected Chairman of Committee.—[A Correspondent.] PATERANGI. The following seven gentlemen were elected a school committee—namely, Messrs. Macky, Millar, McCallum, Webb, A. J. Scott, Riburu, and Sing. At a first meeting the committee held subsequently Mr. K. T. Millar was elected permanent Chairman. TE AWAMUTU. No committee were elected here. Commissioners, as usual, will be appointed. OHAUPO. The following seven gentlemen were eleated a school committee—namely, Messrs. Edwards, McLaren, Shaw, Higginsou, Kripner, Chapman, and Brien. At a first meeting of the committee held subsequently Mr. Higginsou was elected permanent Chairman, KIHIKIHI. At the election of a school committee (the result of which appeared in yesterday's Herald), the chiefs Rewi, Hithrie, and some of their followers voted, and even a constabulary man in barracks claimed, and was, strange to say, allowed the same privilege as a bona fide householder. POKENO VALLEY. The following gentlemen were elected a committee for the ensuing year:—Messrs. XV. Motion, R. Lyoos, J. Graham, D. Maxwell, J. Dean, W. Dean, and C. Jackson. At a meeting of the newly-elected committee, Mr. J. Dean was elected Ch»irman, and Air. D. Maxwell Secretary. The outgoing committee nominated Messrs. R. Hobbs and F. Lawry as members of the Board of Education. TE KOPURU. The following gentlemen—Messrs.Andrew, Phillips, Butler, Leabourn, New, Matthews, Herrich, and Barclay—were nominated for election, but Mr. Barclay withdrawing his name from the list, the first-named seven gentlemen were declared duly and unanimously elected. At first meeting of the new committee, Mr. Andrew was elected Chairman, and Mr. Leabourn hon. Secretary.
