[PEESS ASSOCIATION.] ; • ■ • NEW PLYMOOTH. Tuesday. John G. GsciisfßLL, brother of the lunatic murderer in the Auckland Lunatic Asylum, was charged, to-day, with threatening to murder Dominie Fisher, of Inglewood. The case, however, was dismissed.

WANGANUI, Tuesday. Tho Premitr received a deputation from the Harbour Board this morning as to tho proposed loan of £40,000, and promised to consider tho security on hia return to Wellington. Ho afterwards accompanied tho Board to the Heads, and inspected tho harbour works, and left by the afternoon train at route for Wellington. Woodyear'a Electric Circus opened on Monday night to upwards of two thousand visitors. There were nearly aa many tonight.
WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Upwards oE £300 has been obtained here, by subscriptions and sale of tickets, for the funds of the Irish National League, Two seamen belonging to tho barque Caberfcidh, who refused to give evidence in a case brought against another seaman, for assaulting the captain, wore committed to gaol for a week.
At tho Supreme Court, the case of Sperroy v. Dransfield and others was hoard. This was an action brought by tho Registrar of Joint Stock Companies, in pursuance of tho Building Societies Act of 1566, to recover from Joe Dransfield, John Richard Gill, and John Edward Hayes, of Wellington, the sum of £500, upon a bond of fidelity given by defendants in regard to Charles White, late Secretary of the Wellington Building Sooiety. Counsel, in urging the case, said that the statoment of claim alleged that tho aaid Charles VVhite was at one time Secretary of the Wellington Building Sooiety, the society was properly constituted, that the bond of fidelity was entered into by tho defendants, on behalf of the said Charles White, that the bond was for £500, that the said Charles White received sums amounting to £1866, which ho did not aocount for, and that ho unlawfully appropriated the same to his own use. The case was adjourned until to-morrow for farther argument. Mr. J. E. Redmond lectured again this evening to a good audience, tho subjeot being "The Irish Land Question," Mr. G. Hutchison, M.H.R., presided. At tho conclusion of this address, Mr. Redmond was loudly applauded, and a hearty voto of thanks was accorded him. Ik is expected ho will leave for the South to-morrow night.
KUMARA, Tuesday. Mr. W. Redmond addressed a. large audience at tho Theatre last night, oq the " Irish Poots," concluding with a short farewell to tho people of tho West Coast. He left by coach this morning for Christchurch, The total financial results of- his visit to the West Coast is £1438, or £400 more than was expected altogether in New Zealand,
DUNEDIN, Tuesday. Tho pedestrian Edwards, and his agent, Mr. Seymour, left for Christchurch yesterday. Edwards intends giving walking exhibitions at Christchurch, Wellington, and Auckland, before leaving New Zealand for America.
Tho Young Men's Christian Association intend applying to the Government for a portion of. the grant in aid of libraries, as their library is as free to the public as any in this provinoial district.
A man, named John White, committed suioide this morning by jumping into the Clathn river near Etterick. He is- supposed to have been drinking for some time past. Thomas and Blackburn intend coining from Victoria to be proscnt at the Caledonian Society's New Year games, to contest the wrestling _ championship with ' Robertson. Thomas, it will be remembered, came over some years ago and challenged Tyson,' Hit was thrown by him. Blackburn has also visited here previously.
